I love yarn! I love the way I can take a piece of string and create something beautiful from it. My pieces always come from somewhere in me and seem to have
a story to tell.
So here I will tell my yarns about my yarn.
I am a Bronx artist, working hard at succeeding at my passion. I have been drawing and writing since I was a child. Painting came later in life, when I was able to purchase materials for myself. I am also a child advocate and community activist.
So, I am a writer/poet/artist/producer and designer, as well as a child and community activist. I am involved as a volunteer in multiple projects to better community life.
The reason for the many things I engage in is that I, like many artists am inspired to create in multiple mediums. One art form, will inevitably inspire something in another art form.
A poem will inspire a design, will inspire a story, will inspire a painting, will inspire a book, will inspire a theatrical piece, will inspire a community action or event, etc.
I am often told that I should focus on one medium. To do that would be to deny myself other forms of expression and would stifle my creativity. Imagine asking someone to walk with one leg and to forget about the other one. That is what it would be like for me.
Art is my life, my passion, my spirit, my oxygen. I cannot do without it.
